The Song of the Butterflies

Rember Yahuarcani, an Indigenous painter from the Uitoto Nation in Peru, returns to his Amazonian community to visit his father, a painter, and his mother, a sculptor, as he confronts the horrors his community faced from Peru’s rubber boom, immersing himself in the past to rediscover his creativity. PBS POV films will be held at the Gallery of Art (36 W Beach Drive, Panama City). Programming is facilitated by the Bay County Public Library. No ticket required. Attendance will be capped at room capacity. The Song of the Butterflies will be screened on Saturday, April 13 during the 5 – 7 p.m. film block. Post-film discussion will be led by local artists, Sarah Burris, Mandy Yourick and Briana Bennett.
